Terms of Service (AGB)

Welcome to Odo.club. These terms and conditions outline the rules and regulations for the use of our matchmaking service.

1. Eligibility and Minimum Age

Odo.club is available to adults only. You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for or hold a membership. By submitting an application you confirm that you have reached that age and that the date of birth you provide is your own and is accurate.

We reject applications that state an age below 18. If we become aware that a member is under 18, we will terminate the membership and delete the associated data.

2. The Application Process

By submitting an application to Odo.club, you agree to provide truthful and accurate information about your identity, background, and intentions. Each application is reviewed by a member of our team. Submitting an application does not create a membership and is free of charge; no contract exists between us until we approve your application. We reserve the right to reject any application without providing detailed reasons — at this stage you have not yet become a member, and no content or service relationship exists for us to give an account of.

3. Trust & Safety

Before an applicant is admitted, a member of our team reviews the profile photos and may ask for different ones. This review is not an identity check, and a profile that has passed it is not "verified". A member may also choose to verify themselves with a short video. A computer program or a member of our team compares the video with the member's photos, and a member whose video matches receives a Verified badge. The badge means only that: a video of the person matched their photos at the time of the check. Verification is optional; members who have not verified are shown as "Not verified". Providing false or misleading information may result in rejection of your application or termination of your membership.

Odo.club is not a certification authority. Our review is a good-faith assessment based on the information available to us. It is not a legal identity verification, and we do not warrant the identity, background, or intentions of any member to any other member.

4. Member Conduct

Odo.club is a private community built on respect, honesty, and serious intentions. Members are expected to treat their matches with the utmost respect. In particular, you may not:

A breach may lead to the removal of content, a suspension, or the permanent end of the membership.

Unlike the application decision above, restricting an existing member — removing content, suspending or terminating a membership — is not a reasonless decision. Where we do so because of illegal content or a breach of these Terms, we will tell the member what action we took, the facts we relied on, and how to contest the decision, in line with Art. 17 of the EU Digital Services Act.

How we moderate. Reports are read by a member of our team. To decide what to look at first we also look at simple counts, for example how many different members have reported a profile; a count never suspends anyone by itself. Every decision to remove content, to suspend or to end a membership is made by a person, who looks at what has been reported and the few messages around it, and who tells the member why. We do not read members' private messages unless one is reported to us.

If we end a membership for a breach of these Terms, we keep a short record, in a protected form that does not allow the original details to be read back, of the e-mail address, phone number, payment method, sign-in account and photos used, for up to three years, so that the same person cannot register again at once. A match with such a record makes a person look at the new application; it does not by itself refuse anyone.

If you believe any content on Odo.club is illegal or violates these Terms, you can report it to impressum@odo.club, describing the content, where it can be found, and why you believe it is unlawful. We will confirm receipt and let you know the outcome.

5. Liability

We review applications carefully, but we cannot confirm every statement an applicant makes. Odo.club is not liable for the actions of individual members, for the accuracy of information provided by members, or for the outcome of any interaction between members, whether online or offline.

The above limitation does not apply to liability for damages arising from injury to life, body or health, to liability for intent or gross negligence, to liability under the German Product Liability Act (Produkthaftungsgesetz), or to the breach of essential contractual obligations. Where we breach an essential contractual obligation through simple negligence, our liability is limited to the damage typically foreseeable at the time of contract conclusion.

6. How Matches Are Selected

Which profiles are shown to you, and to whom your profile is shown, is decided by an automated compatibility algorithm that applies the same fixed rules to everyone. For the safety of members in countries where same-sex relationships are criminal offences (at present Ghana), members who live there can choose only the opposite gender; members elsewhere choose freely, but can be introduced only to members in the other country. It uses what you tell us in the app: your country, your gender and who you are looking for, your age and preferred age range, your relationship intent and the languages you speak. It also uses whether members are verified, in two ways only: among equally compatible people, verified members come first, and you can choose to see only verified members. It does not read your free-text answers. No member of our team selects an individual match for an individual member. This differs from the review in Section 2, which is a human check of your photos before any membership exists, and from the optional verification in Section 3, which concerns who you are rather than who you are shown. You can ask us at any time to explain why you were shown what you were shown, or nothing, and we will answer within one month.

New members. For the first 14 days after approval, a member's profile is shown to fewer people each day, and a chat with a new member opens 12 hours after the match. These rules apply to every new member alike; they give us time to notice a problem before it spreads.

7. Membership Term and Termination

You can end your membership at any time by deleting your account in the app. We may end a membership for a breach of Section 4, and we will then give the statement of reasons described there.

Once a paid membership is offered, this section will state the applicable term, any automatic renewal (limited to an indefinite term terminable with one month's notice, per § 309 no. 9 of the German Civil Code), and how to cancel — including a dedicated, login-free cancellation option on our website, and, for the first 14 days, your statutory right to withdraw from the contract without giving reasons. None of this exists yet because Odo.club does not currently charge for membership; this section will be updated, with a revised version date below, before it does.
